“Cheese route as an innovative cultural heritage driving force for rural tourism development in the cross-border area”

of the Interreg IPA II Greece-Albania Programme 2014-2020


CheeseCulT presents a unique opportunity for sustainable tourism development, utilizing culinary tradition and local cheese production, contributing to the strengthening of the local economy by increasing the number of visitors to the cross-border area.

In the context of the Project, a dynamic route map of cheese (“Cheese Route”) is being developed in the cross-border area, among other things, with the active participation of producers, tourism companies, cultural and other stakeholders.

Networking of companies through their participation in the Project and in the “Cheese Route” will help strengthen their role, turning them into potential providers of a new cultural tourism product based on Cheese.

This way, it is expected to strengthen the local economy, the number of visitors to the area and, consequently, the financial position of the companies that will be part of the Cheese Route.
